These test results demonstrated that the VScan(tm) TB Test Kit has a sensitivity of 80% and specificity of 100%. The only test kit currently available has a sensitivity of 60%. Sensitivity is defined as the repetition of a positive result in individuals with the disease in question. Specificity is defined as the repetition of a negative result in individuals without the disease.
The VScan Test Kit is a cost effective, easy to use test, which does not require any medical or skilled personnel. The TB kit produces visible results which are easy to interpret in under 20 minutes. In addition, the kit requires no electricity or refrigeration and can be safely stored at room temperature. This allows the kit to be used in a variety of environments and settings.
