ClinPhone Inc., the New Jersey-based provider of specialist clinical trial management systems for the pharmaceutical industry, has opened a new facility in Lawrenceville to cater for increased demand for its services.

The new facility covers over 6,200 square feet – more than three times the size of ClinPhone's previous offices – and will house the Company's rapidly expanding US client-facing workforce.

It will be home to the clinical project management, technical support, business development, marketing, administration and human resource departments of ClinPhone Inc. More jobs will be created as the Company continues to grow during 2001.

ClinPhone Inc. Vice President Dr Howard Goldberg believes the new facility will be ideal as the company enjoys continued and consistent success, commenting: "This is a direct response to an ever-increasing demand for ClinPhone services from pharmaceutical and biotech organizations.

"The new offices will enable us to grow at our planned rate comfortably over the next two years. The US market continues to exhibit strong growth with consistently high demand from our existing clients and increasing interest from new ones. We already have an office in Chicago to service the industry in the Midwest and we are planning a further facility on the West Coast."

ClinPhone designs, develops and manages bespoke telephone and Internet-based IT systems which dramatically reduce the costs and improve efficiency levels in clinical trials, allowing pharmaceutical companies to enhance profitability by helping them deliver approved drugs and medications to market far quicker than was traditionally possible.

During the past 18 months, the Company – which has its headquarters in Nottingham, UK – has seen rapid and sustained growth in its US operation, and American sales now account for around 60% of ClinPhone Group's annual revenue.

The Group is approaching its eighth birthday and now has offices in Lawrenceville, Chicago and Brussels as well as a new operations facility alongside its original UK headquarters. It supplies services to most of the major global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, with experience gained supporting more than 450 clinical trials in approaching 100 countries and 60 languages.

EDITORS NOTES

ClinPhone is the world’s leading specialist provider of Electronic Trial Management (ETM) services to the pharmaceutical industry. The company has UK offices in Nottingham, a European office in Brussels and USA offices in Princeton and Chicago. It employs more than 160 people worldwide.

The company's flagship product is ClinPhone*ivr. This allows a standard telephone to become a data inputting tool for sophisticated information management and reporting systems. Specific prompts in the caller’s own language enable a vast array of study specific information to be gathered which can be used in real-time to manage a clinical trial. The streamlined process offers huge savings in raw material (drug) costs, packaging and distribution costs and offers a high degree of control (pinpointing the level of activity throughout countries and sites).

ClinPhone’s electronic clinical trial services are widely recognized in the industry as the most versatile and advanced available to global pharmaceutical companies.

The service operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year and is multilingual, having operated in approaching 100 countries and 60 languages. It enables real-time reports on the progress and management of the study. Traditional methods often mean pharmaceutical companies have to wait weeks for similar information.

In some cases, the use of ClinPhone*ivr has saved pharmaceutical companies several million dollars during the study process.

The ClinPhone system has been implemented on more than 450 clinical trials and used at more than 75,000 study sites. It has been used for trials with as few as 20 subjects and as many as 40,000. The system has received more than one and a half million calls from users.

ClinPhone‘s secure Internet technology is likely to form the backbone of clinical trial management in this Millennium.
