Genentech Subscribes to Gene Logic's GeneExpress Database
Gene Logic Inc. (Nasdaq:GLGC), an integrated genomics information and bioinformatics company, announced today that Genentech, Inc. (NYSE:DNA) has subscribed to the BioExpress(TM) Module of Gene Logic's GeneExpress(R) Suite for use in its drug discovery and development programs.

Financial terms of the multi-year subscription were not disclosed.

The BioExpress(TM) Module consists of gene expression and associated information from a broad range of normal and diseased human tissues, tissues from model animal systems, and human and animal cell lines for use in drug target identification and drug target validation studies.

The subscription agreement provides for broad deployment of the BioExpress(TM) content, as well as the GeneExpress(R)' related GX2000(TM) data mining and analysis software tools, across Genentech's global research and development infrastructure.

"Biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies are aggressively seeking ways to increase the speed by which they identify and prioritize drug targets. The GeneExpress(R) Suite and its accompanying software tools offer a solution that we believe will become an indispensable tool for achieving these goals," said Mark D. Gessler, President and CEO of Gene Logic. "We are very pleased to form this business relationship with Genentech. Establishing an agreement with one of the pioneers of the biotechnology industry is an important validation of the strength of the GeneExpress(R) Suite and our other gene expression-based product offerings."
