OXYGEN DEBUTS "DAILY REMIX" JANUARY 29TH AT 11PM ET
|
|
| Where on TV can a lover of all musical genres go to get news and coverage of events? "Daily Remix," hosted by Simran Sethi, a former MTV Asia and MTV India news anchor and VJ, is the first show to feature artists, music and events from every genre, including rock, classical, pop, jazz, blues, rap, hip-hop, folk, alternative, electronic and country. The half-hour show will be shot on-location around the music world and will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the recording studio and back-stage, artist profiles, commentary from both critics and fans, music videos and highlights from Oxygen's own stages and interview chairs. Oxygen's music series, "Daily Remix" makes its debut on January 29th at 11 PM and regularly airs Monday through Friday at 11 PM. The debut episode features a performance by R&B star Montell Jordan and a profile of up-and-coming all-girl teen rock group Kittie. The premiere episode of "Daily Remix" also holds a "Road Test" of the Kelis video for "Caught Out There" and we link classical violin prodigy Sarah Chang to rap group Cypress Hill in "Six Degrees"
Other shows during premiere week will include a rare interview with musical luminary Clive Davis, founder of Arista Records and CEO of J Records and a peek inside his new headquarters with the hot new band O-Town. The first week also includes the premiere of the new Everclear video for "When It All Goes Wrong Again," featured on the soundtrack of the new film "Antitrust" starring Tim Robbins and Ryan Phillippe. In future shows, "Remix" will follow the band Nine Days back to their hometown on Long Island, go on a shopping spree with Charlotte Church as she indulges her typical teen side, and host Simran Sethi teams up with Seal to chat about Yoga and the spiritual side of music. "Daily Remix" will premiere videos by Semisonic, Rod Stewart, Amy Correia, and Kendall Payne. While exploring diverse musical genres, "Remix" will uncover new talent like 16-year-old jazz sensation Shannon Curfman, discover the world of Basement Bhangra music with renowned DJ Rekha and sample Bargemusic, the largest chamber music presenter in the world, located on a converted barge on Brooklyn's waterfront.
Regular segments on "Daily Remix" will include: · "Video Birth" - the premiere of a never-before-seen video · "Six Degrees" - two seemingly unrelated artists are linked musically through several other people, ideas are solicited from the audience, with the best ones airing on the show · "Road Test" - man-on-the-street commentary on popular music videos · "Remix Retrospectives" - tells the story of a female musical legend through that artist's music videos · "Artist To Watch" - a rising star in music that you may not have heard of - yet · "Fact, Quote or Gossip?" - gives the scoop on three different artists in the form of a fact, a quote and an item of gossip · "Remix Requests" - the videos the viewers want to see, and not just your standard Top 40 fare
Staffed by a diverse group of music experts, "Daily Remix" is meant to target the audience that is lost in today's music environment - caught between MTV and adult contemporary - too young for their parents' music, not young enough for teen pop. While the internet and the multitude of music sources available has opened up the musical floodgates, it's also made it significantly harder for people to make their musical choices - that's where "Daily Remix" comes in as a one-stop shop for the music fan who appreciates all types of music.
"Daily Remix" is executive produced by Seth Jarrett. Prior to "Daily Remix," Mr. Jarrett served as supervising producer on "Trackers," Oxygen's daily, live two-hour talk-variety program for young women, VH1's Fashion Week, VH1's "The Making Of Couture," MTV Rockumentary's of Tom Petty and Stone Temple Pilots and MTV's Ultrasound, "Sugar & Spice," the music documentary focusing on the Spice Girls and the subsequent boy band phenomenon.
