| All Proceeds From The First Auction Of An Original John Sexton Photograph To Be Donated To The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 12/21/2000 -- PhotoAlley.com, one of the fastest growing photographic destination sites on the Internet, announces the first PhotoAlley Charity Auction of fine art original photographs by professional photographers on the PhotoAlley.com Web site. All proceeds from the inaugural auction of a 16x20-inch John Sexton original photograph will go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
"PhotoAlley's Content and Community is all about sharing the joy of photography, so it is also fitting that we share through charity," said Skip Cohen, president of PhotoAlley, Inc. "This gives us an opportunity to utilize this vital medium to support worthy causes while at the same time rallying the photo community to get involved in doing something important."
This 16x20-inch, archivally processed black-and-white photograph is the cover image from Sexton's new book entitled Places of Power. It has been hand printed by John Sexton, and is signed by the photographer. The print is mounted and overmatted on 22x28-inch 100% rag archival museum board. John Sexton’s images of this size regularly sell in galleries for $1,000, and his earlier works are already becoming collector’s items. Bidding will begin on December 20, 2000 and will be held through private emails, with the high bids regularly updated on the site (www.photoalley.com/pa/communityAuction.cfm). Bidders are kept anonymous. Bidding ends at 11:59 PST on January 31, 2001. The winning bid will also receive a signed copy of John Sexton's new book Places of Power.
